As this report goes to press and the National Conference on Digital Government Research enters its sixth year, many projects are in motion to help the community adapt to its growth and continue shaping the face of the research discipline:

The new International Journal of Electronic Government Research is being launched. The National Science Foundation is talking about reducing funding for outreach efforts, to encourage the community to develop its own, self-sustaining infrastructure. Plans are underway to form a Digital Government society to help promote and expand the community. And discussions have begun that could lead to dg.o2005 being held in Europe.
