Call for Participation - Project Highlights
Research for Effective Government"
Deadline: No longer accepting submissions
dg.o 2006 Project Highlights Guidelines
We invite presentations of on going and past digital government projects at dg.o 2006. A project highlight presents an opportunity to present research in progress.
All those whose project highlight submissions are accepted by the dg.o 2006 program committee will be scheduled to present at the conference as an oral presentation, poster, or demonstration. At least one author of each project highlight must register for the conference in order for the project highlight to be included in the conference proceedings.
A project highlight submission consists of a two-page summary of the project plus a presentation consisting of eight to ten slides (see below). Two-page project highlight summaries will be reviewed to provide suggestions for improvement, and, if accepted, will appear in the conference proceedings. The PowerPoint submission will be used by the program committee to provide suggestions for improvement of the two-page summary, and to help determine how best to include the project highlight in the dg.o 2006 Conference Program, e.g., as a short oral presentation, poster, or demonstration.
NSF PI’s might want to consult the FAQ for NSF PI’s.
The two-page summary should describe current project activities, summarize published or unpublished research contributions, and identify successes, challenges, and plans for the coming year. Submissions may include URLS referencing relevant project information, and must conform to the format requirements of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Proceedings http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html.
Submission Guidelines
The online submission system (http://www.ctg.albany.edu/conference/dgo/) must be used for all conference submissions (research papers, posters, system demos, project highlights and Birds-of-a-Feather proposals). After submission, you will be able to use the system to track the progress of your paper through the review process, and to read comments made by the reviewers upon acceptance or rejection of your submission by the program committee.
The MS PowerPoint (or equivalent) presentation should consist of one slide addressing each of the following topics:
- Project title and principal investigators and major collaborators.
- Types of collaboration with government partner (e.g., through cost-sharing, direct support, advice and feedback) and with other closely related grants
- Scientific research objective
- Accomplishments
- Management structure for the project, including government partners
- Collaboration examples and success stories
- Broad impact
- Challenges or barriers to success
- Research value when working in DG domain (NSF dg PI’s only)
- Recommendations for improving DG program (NSF dg PI’s only)
"Camera ready" project highlight summaries, per the format instructions outlined above, are due on the same date as camera ready research papers. See http://www.dgrc.org/dgo2006/papers/.
